Online shopping in the US has surged in popularity recently, with more and more individuals opting to buy products and services online. Color your kitchen: Butter makes everything better

(BPT) - The psychology of color reveals what most people already know: Color can evoke strong emotions. Members of the design team at Whirlpool Corporation are well versed in how color impacts mood, which is one of the reasons they spent years researching color trends to identify the best possible choice for the KitchenAid® 2025 Color of the Year: Butter.

"The Color of the Year program is specifically led by the Whirlpool Color, Finish, and Material team. We spend years analyzing interior design, social, cultural and aesthetic trends to help determine the new Color of the Year — a decision that is often many years in the process," said Brittni Pertijs, Design Manager: Color, Material and Finish at Whirlpool Corporation. "Color of the Year focuses on a specific colorway to express the emotions people want to feel that year."

This year's choice for Color of the Year: Butter

It's not just for baking anymore! This modern yellow with a creamy, satin finish imparts a uniquely comforting vibe, with a nostalgic aura all its own.

"As a result of our trend tracking, our team saw yellow continually pop up," said Pertijs. "Knowing we wanted to tap into comfort and nostalgia, this soft, energizing butter yellow felt like the perfect marriage of all those elements."

According to a 2024 online Ipsos Survey*, nearly 3 in 4 consumers (72%) agree that a buttery yellow color radiates warmth and comfort, and 67% associate the color with a sense of richness and creaminess — making it a top choice for creating a welcoming atmosphere in the kitchen. More than half (52%) connect the hue with comforting homemade meals, and the same percentage agree that a buttery yellow color transports them back to nostalgic childhood memories. A majority of consumers (64%) also connect this color to the simple pleasures in life.

"The color yellow has the ability to transport you back in time, evoking some of your warmest memories," added Pertijs. "The color might remind people of kitchens from the 1950s or 1960s that were decorated with a similar soft yellow color. While it echoes past kitchens, Butter feels fresh and modern, leaning into present-day design trends. It's a classic neutral that will last over the years."

Design tips: How to make the most of this year's color

To maximize the warm, comfy vibes of this year's Color of the Year, you can choose to upgrade to the new KitchenAid® Stand Mixer in Butter. The Butter Stand Mixer works well as a design feature in any style of home, from eclectic and traditional styles to clean and contemporary spaces. It's also created to fit in perfectly with the latest kitchen designs and finishes.

While some may recall the Majestic Yellow color, "that was developed in 1995, which was reflective of interior trends such as red cherry woods and glossy countertop finishes. The new Butter model represents today's design trends, in which woods are more natural, and countertops are matte and satin," explained Pertijs.

For anyone looking to accessorize or update their kitchen this year, the Butter Stand Mixer complements various shades of blue well, including periwinkle blue. If you're looking to mix and match it with other appliances, Butter looks great with the KitchenAid Blue Velvet colorway, or more muted tones like sage green.

Pertijs also recommends pairing the Butter Stand Mixer with the KitchenAid® Bread Bowl attachment: "They go together like bread and butter (pun intended)!"

Make your kitchen cozier, comforting and welcoming this year with the rich color of Butter. You can learn more about this year's KitchenAid® Stand Mixer Color of the Year at KitchenAid.com.

Unwrap affordable luxury: Why a bidet seat is the perfect holiday gift powered by Bigdoggpinc

I'm your Eyeball Acquisition Specialist! Achieving success in life, no matter the field, hinges on how many people you can connect with and make a positive impression on. Online shopping in the US has surged in popularity recently, with more and more individuals opting to buy products and services online. At Bigdoggpinc, we're dedicated to building trust and earning your confidence, one person at a time if that's what it takes.

Unwrap affordable luxury: Why a bidet seat is the perfect holiday gift

(BPT) - Looking to level up your gift-giving game this year? The secret to inspired holiday gift giving is choosing meaningful things that will uplift, surprise and delight. It's not about how expensive your gifts are, it's about finding things that will make an impact and possibly improve your loved ones' lives, perhaps with something special they wouldn't think to buy for themselves.

Check all those boxes with an easy choice this holiday — give a bidet seat like the TOTO WASHLET! Though not a typical gift idea, a recent survey from TOTO and Harris Poll found that 58% of people would welcome a bidet seat as a gift, with 60% confessing they do not feel completely clean when just using toilet paper alone after a bathroom break.

Bidets have long been a central feature in European and Japanese bathrooms, and their popularity is skyrocketing in the U.S. Why? It's easier than ever to upgrade your bathroom with a bidet. You don't even need a whole new plumbed fixture anymore. Innovative electric bidet seats like the WASHLET from TOTO transform your toilet into a bidet by simply replacing the existing toilet seat!

The WASHLET adds warmth, self-care, convenience and luxury to your loved ones' everyday routine. And the good news for your holiday pocketbook — there is a bidet for every budget: the introductory WASHLET C2, intermediate WASHLET C5 or top-of-the-line WASHLET S7A.

Here's how a bidet seat will surprise and delight everyone on your list:

For the environmentally conscious

Why they'll love it: A bidet seat like the WASHLET can reduce a person's toilet paper use by up to 75%. That's good for the environment in terms of fewer trees being used and also less paper waste flushed into the sewer systems. It also reduces the amount of harsh cleaning chemicals people need to clean their toilet bowls because of their self-cleaning functions. With a WASHLET, people can have an eco-friendly bathroom that still feels luxurious. According to that survey by TOTO, 28% of Americans are motivated to consider purchasing a bidet as a way to reduce the environmental impact associated with using toilet paper.

For the apartment renter

Why they'll love it: Portable and easy to install, WASHLET bidets can upgrade even small bathrooms without requiring major renovation. This is a luxury upgrade for renters who can't make permanent changes to their bathrooms without losing their security deposit. Because a WASHLET can easily be removed, renters can even take their WASHLET with them to their next place of living.

For the wellness warrior

Why they'll love it: For those who live by their self-care routine, a WASHLET is a way to level up wellness. WASHLET uses a gentle, effective spray of warm water to cleanse after using the bathroom, which is more hygienic than using toilet paper. WASHLET promotes overall wellness by helping to prevent or ease the symptoms of common health issues ranging from hemorrhoids and Crohn's disease to jock itch. Many people find that toilet paper can irritate the skin, while the WASHLET's warm-water cleansing provides a gentler clean. Many brands of toilet paper also contain harsh chemical additives. By limiting your use of toilet paper with a bidet, you are limiting your exposure to these toxic chemicals.

For multigenerational families

Why they'll love it: According to survey data from TOTO, about 1 in 5 Americans (19%) live in a multigenerational home with at least one shared bathroom. A WASHLET provides a superior bathroom experience for people of all ages, at any stage of life. It supports everything from the challenges of keeping clean during potty training to the struggle of decreased mobility into old age. It's especially useful for families with multiple generations living under one roof to ease the stress of raising young children while also ensuring elder family members can live their daily lives with dignity, privacy and safety.

For lovers of luxury and the celebrity obsessed

Why they'll love it: A WASHLET by TOTO is an affordable way for someone to bring the luxury of a high-end hotel spa into their own living space. Many of today's finest hotels feature high-end bidets in their bathrooms to give their discerning guests a luxurious experience and celebrities have them at the top of bathroom upgrades for their homes. TOTO found more than 3 in 5 Americans (63%) see a bidet as a luxury or status symbol.

And don't forget to put yourself on that list. A WASHLET elevates any bathroom and turns it into a luxury spa-like retreat, making it a gift you and your loved ones will enjoy long after the holidays are over. You can find WASHLET at retailers like Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes and Wayfair.

5 tips for staying safe during a winter power outage powered by Bigdoggpinc

5 tips for staying safe during a winter power outage

(BPT) - Winter is in full swing. It's a beautiful season, but as the temperature drops and the snow, ice and cold approach, there's always the possibility of a power outage. When it's cold outside and your home is plunged into darkness, it can be more than just an inconvenience. It can mean not being able to keep your family warm, to work if your power is out, even to get water if your pipes freeze.

The best way to get through a winter power outage? Be prepared. A little forethought can save a lot of headaches later. Here are some tips for handling a winter power outage from Anker SOLIX, the experts in whole-home backup power solutions.

Assemble an emergency kit. Make sure you have all the things on hand that your family needs to get through a power outage. You'll be home, so you've already got warm blankets and clothes covered. You'll also want several gallons of bottled water and food that doesn't have to be heated up like granola bars, fruit and nuts. Pop some new batteries into your flashlights before you need them, and get a weather radio if you don't already have one. Also think about getting solar chargers for your phones, some battery-powered candles and hand warmers.

Invest in backup power. When the lights and heat go out, you need backup. The Anker SOLIX F3800 Portable Power Station is an accessible whole-home power backup. It's the first power station to feature AC coupling and support home solar power cycling when paired with the Anker SOLIX Home Power Panel. Easy installation only takes a few hours by a professional electrician, and with a cost-effective price point, the F3800 is the most accessible home power solution available on the market.

The F3800 can provide back-up power for the entire home. It offers 6000W AC power output and 120V/240V dual voltage output, enabling it to simultaneously power high-energy devices. The AC output power can even be elevated up to 12,000W when two F3800s are combined. At the same time, it boasts a massive 3.84kWh internal battery for extended backup power. With its expandable form factor, users can customize their power storage needs with up to 53.76kWh when combining two F3800s and up to 12 additional batteries, providing up to a week of home backup power. You can also charge your EVs!

For a more compact solution, the Anker SOLIX C300 DC, is a new compact-but-mighty power station. It can power seven devices at once, a space heater and more for shorter periods of time. It recharges via solar energy, so you can power it up again and again. And it comes with a built-in light, which is handy during those dark nights when power goes out.

Make sure the pipes don't freeze. When the power goes out, open the cabinet doors under your kitchen and bathroom sinks and turn on the faucets, just a trickle. That will help ensure the pipes don't freeze in the cold.

Keep your refrigerator door closed. This will help keep the cold air in, preserving your food. General safety guidelines say your fridge will keep food cold for four hours during an outage. If the outage lasts longer than that, it's best to throw away things like dairy, meats, eggs and leftovers.

Don't be tempted to heat with your gas stove. This can cause a backup of carbon monoxide gas, which can be deadly.

4 realistic resolutions for working parents to consider in 2025 powered by Bigdoggpinc

4 realistic resolutions for working parents to consider in 2025

(BPT) - The 2024 U.S. Surgeon General's Advisory shed light on the immense amount of stress parents are under. Part of this is due to the pressure that comes with raising children, working and wanting to be a high performer in every aspect of life. With the new year in full swing, now is a great time to make small, attainable resolutions that have the power to lower stress levels, enhance well-being and improve family dynamics.

"Letting your child see you relax, play and take things a little less seriously is a great way to model behavior that they can emulate someday," said Joy Turner, vice president of education at Kiddie Academy®.

Here are a few realistic resolutions to help you get started:

1. Find out what your child is learning in school and connect it to your life at home.

A conversation with your child care provider is an easy way to extend what your child is learning beyond the walls of the classroom. For example, if you know the curriculum is highlighting bears one week in school, you can base your home activities around that same learning. Make a "bear snack" of apples dipped in honey, build a "bear cave" out of blankets or simply crawl around on the floor growling like bears. Transferring learning greatly benefits your child and takes the guesswork out of at-home playtime while supporting continued development.

2. Spend more time playing.

According to research from Kiddie Academy, 56% of parents indicate that they feel guilty for not spending enough time with their children, while 26% struggle to teach things like critical thinking skills, helping their little ones create connections with others (25%) and building confidence (23%). All of these skills can be learned through child-led play where your child's imagination is left to wander and create. Instead of feeling the need to schedule structured activities, take this as an opportunity to enjoy the learning-through-play process with your little one.

3. Read one book a day with your child at home.

One of the most beneficial things you can do at home for your child's education is to read at least one book together every day. According to research from The Ohio State University, children whose parents read to them on a daily basis hear nearly 300,000 words by the time they turn five years old. By reading more with your child this year, you'll not only contribute to their healthy development, but you'll also get to spend extra quality time together.

Setting a quiet family reading time each day is another beneficial practice — for both children and parents. During this time, bring out developmentally appropriate books, like "I Spy" for children who can't read independently yet and early reader books for older children, and grab a book for yourself as well.

4. Give yourself a break.

Including your child in more tasks around the house that you would typically complete alone can help teach responsibility and independence that can eventually alleviate some of the parental workload. While it might take a little time at the start, your little ones can help with small tasks like putting laundry in the hamper and cleaning up toys.

Don't forget to take a break from parenting — both physically and mentally. Schedule time to step away — even if it's just taking an hour to do something for yourself before you pick up your child for the day — and remind yourself that you're doing a good job.

"Working parents face unique challenges in managing their time and resources to take care of their families," said Turner. "Leaning on their village, whether that's family, friends or a child care provider, can help them balance the emotional and physical demands of parenting while freeing up time for them to enjoy being with their children."

Spring into financial security: Refresh your fraud awareness this season powered by Bigdoggpinc

Spring into financial security: Refresh your fraud awareness this season

(BPT) - As flowers bloom and the days grow longer, it's the perfect time for a little spring cleaning — not just for your home, but for your financial security too! Last year, consumers worldwide lost a staggering $1 trillion to all types of scams. Just as you declutter and refresh your space, take this opportunity during Fraud Prevention Month to dust off your fraud awareness and fortify your financial safeguards with tips from Cecilie Fjellhøy and Mastercard.

"A scam can potentially leave you in a challenging financial position and feeling personally ashamed. As someone who became a victim, I want others to be alert and aware of the tactics fraudsters use to deceive others," said Fjellhøy, advocate and whistleblower in the Netflix documentary 'The Tinder Swindler.' "This Fraud Prevention Month, I am partnering with Mastercard to help empower people with tips to better identify fraud before it happens."

Too good to be true? It probably is! If an offer seems unbelievable or over-the-top, it may be a scam. Fraudsters might dangle promises of guaranteed wealth or pretend to be a friend or loved one in urgent need. Consider whether a message could really be true and verify its legitimacy.

Don't get swept up in pressure tactics: Scammers thrive on panic, pushing fake emergencies or "limited-time" deals to make you act fast. Pause, take a breath and consult a trusted source before making any decisions. Be wary of urgent requests for money — especially if they involve gift cards, wire transfers or cryptocurrency. If you haven't met in person, or if you are not sure, don't send funds!

Turn on transaction alerts to get notified of unusual activity. Regularly review financial statements and report anything unfamiliar. Identity thieves may open fraudulent accounts in your name. Credit monitoring services help flag suspicious activity early so you can take action before damage spreads.

Report it, don't ignore it: If you spot a scam, act quickly. Contact your bank to lock down your accounts, file a police report, and report fraud to agencies like the FTC or your local authorities. If unauthorized payments pop up, request a freeze or reversal ASAP. Many banks can stop fraudulent transfers if caught in time.

Zero Liability has your back: Financial institutions that issue Mastercard cards won't hold consumers responsible for "unauthorized transactions," provided they are promptly reported, and the cardholder used reasonable care in protecting the card from loss or theft. As a Mastercard cardholder, Zero Liability applies to your purchases made in the store, over the telephone, online or via a mobile device, and ATM transactions. With protections like that, paying with your card brings more peace of mind than paying with cash or check.

"Fraud prevention has come a long way since I met my scammer, but it is still important to learn the red flags, trust your gut and stay vigilant," said Fjellhøy. "Whether paying online, in stores, in apps or using a device, Mastercard provides valuable security benefits to help keep cardholders protected. That peace of mind is invaluable."

Whether you're sipping iced tea in the sun while hunting for deals online or exploring local markets in a new city, these tips will help keep you safe. So, embrace the season, stay scam smart, and with cyber smarts, enjoy your spring shopping!
